Roy Heise

Founding Partner

Mr. Roy Heise is the senior partner having over 40 years in the practice of law. Mr. Heise concentrates his practice in the area of wills, estate probate, estate planning and trusts. Mr. Heise served over 25 years as the Village of Brockport Village Attorney. Mr. Heise is a military veteran and a member of the Brockport VFW. He is an avid golfer and a well respected member of the Brockport and Hamlin communities.

Kevin G. Johnson

Managing Partner

Kevin Johnson is a lifelong resident of Brockport, currently residing there with his wife Marne and his two sons, Kevin Jr. and Grant.  Kevin graduated from St. John Fisher College in 2002 with degrees in political science and history.  After working for several years following college, Kevin then attended the University of Buffalo Law School, graduating in 2008.  After graduation he was admitted to the New York State Bar in February 2009.

During law school, Kevin served as a legal intern for the Honorable Michael A. Telesca of the Western District of New York and the Legal Aid Society, Immigration Unit.  He also participated in the Desmond Moot Court Competition.

Upon completion of the bar exam, Kevin worked as an Associate at the Rochester law firm of Thomas & Solomon LLP.  At Thomas & Solomon, Mr. Johnson worked extensively on representing employees in wage and hour matters under the Fair Labor Standards Act and in various discrimination suits under Title VII, the ADA and the ADEA.

Presently, Mr. Johnson is engaged in general practice at Klafehn, Heise & Johnson.

Mark Klafehn (1927-2011)

Founding Partner

Mr. Mark Klafehn retired from the full time practice of law in 2006.  Mr. Klafehn practiced law for more than 50 years and concentrated his practice in the areas of real estate, wills and probate, family law and criminal defense.  Mr. Klafehn was a well respected member of the Brockport community and continued to be active with the firm until his passing in 2011.

Maureen L. Werner

Paralegal and Office Manager

Maureen has been a dedicated employee of Klafehn, Heise & Johnson P.L.L.C. since 1999.  During that time, Maureen has gained extensive experience in the firm’s general practice with a particular focus in real estate transactions and estate representation.  Maureen has also worked for the Town of Parma since 1999 as the Recording Secretary for the Planning Board.

Maureen is a life long resident of Hilton, New York and presently lives there with her husband and son.   She is a 1983 graduate of Hilton Central School, 1986 graduate of SUNY Cobleskill – with an AOS as a Professional Chef, 1994 graduate of National Academy of Paralegal Studies, 2002 graduate of SUNY Brockport – with a B.S. in Political Science/Pre-Law and she is presently attending the University of Buffalo Law School with an anticipated graduation date of April, 2014.

Constance H. Hertzlin

Legal Assistant

Connie currently handles real estate transactions at Klafehn, Heise & Johnson P.L.L.C.  She enjoys working closely with attorneys, clients and lenders to facilitate timely and successful closings, while also providing excellent service with a personal touch.  Connie has over 30 years of Secretarial experience in various business settings and has an AAS Degree in Secretarial Science from Monroe Community College.

Connie grew up in Greece, New York and currently resides in Hilton with her husband, Peter, and young adult children, Amanda and Adam.  She also has a third child, Katie, who has already flown from the nest.  Connie loves animals and currently has a dog and two cats.  She loves helping family and friends and most anyone in need.  When time allows, Connie loves to travel, enjoys boating and water skiing, gardening, reading, and working on her 1850’s-era farmhouse with Peter.

Marne C. Johnson

Legal Assistant

Marne works closely with the attorneys at Klafehn, Heise and Johnson, PLLC in the drafting and preparation of estate planning and real estate documents.  She lives in the Village of Brockport with her husband, Kevin, and two sons, Kevin Jr. and Grant, where she is blessed to be able to stay at home, caring for her sons.  Marne enjoys the work she does for the firm because she is able to do it and still be home with her family.

Marne grew up in the nearby community of Kendall.  She graduated from Kendall Central School District and then attended The University at Brockport College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Minor in Statistics.
